Books Worth Reading

OK I admit it.

I am a book junkie.

I love to read. I love to find books that I think will be great resources for my clients. I love to be challenged with new ideas, fresh perspectives, radical thinking.

And yes, I do enjoy what I think of as “beach reading” even when I am not on the beach!

The following books are ones that I think are worth reading. They might contain an interesting world view, or a new way of thinking about something old, or are just elegant in the way in which they are written.

Keep checking back as I rotate through my bookshelves.
These are some of my favourites. Perhaps they might become some of yours.

Awakening the Buddha Within
Lama Surya Das
If you are at all curious about Buddhism, this is a great book to learn more about Tibetan wisdom and how you can awaken to who you really are.

The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work
John M Gottman
This is a practical guide that assists couples on their path to a harmonious and long-lasting relationship. Gottman is a major influence in Relationship Systems Coaching. Great stuff!

Crossing the Unknown Sea
David Whyte
I’m like a kid in a candy store with the works of David Whyte. How do I pick? This book explores people’s relationships with work and how to develop greater connection to their life’s work.

Wherever You Go There You Are
Jon Kabat-Zinn
A masterful work about being mindful in everyday life. No matter how many times I have read this book, there is always something new to discover.

Tiger Heart, Tiger Mind
Ron Rubin and Stuart Avery Gold
This book, written by the boys from the Republic of Tea, reveals ways to create a “do-what-you-love-love-what-you-do-life.” Fabulous…and they make great tea too!

The Four Agreements
Don Miguel Ruiz
Exquisitely simple wisdom with exceptionally complex power. If you have never read this book, do it now. Then if you do nothing different than practice the four agreements, life as you know it will change.

The Seven Whispers
Christina Baldwin
This is another seemingly simple book that has the power to change how you interact with the world. Beautifully written, this book encourages you to listen to your inner voice.

Purple Cow
Seth Godin
You’ve got to love Seth Godin. He is always on the forward edge. This is one of his earlier books which still has lots to teach about the power of being remarkable. Not just for entrepreneurs and business people.

How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci
Michael J. Gelb
Using da Vinci as his inspiration Michael Gelb points us in the direction of mastering your own genius.
