That may be particularly true in this year of the Snake, but I’d venture to say that is pretty good advice in any year on any calendar.
Focus means being clear about your priorities and directing your time and energy toward them. It means not running in ten different directions at once. This might be a great year to give up multi-tasking.
Discipline means being able to say yes to the things that will move you forward and no to the things that distract you. Discipline often means requiring more of yourself or as one of my good friends often says to “put your big girl panties on.”
Put focus and discipline together and you have a powerful combination that makes your goals easier to achieve and the seemingly impossible within reach.
What would be possible this year if you had more focus and discipline?
Apparently delusion and deception are also common in the year of the water Snake. Again in most years, I think we do a pretty good job of that with ourselves. We know what we need to do but we don’t do it. There is a gap between our good intentions and our concrete actions. We rationalize our behaviour and talk ourselves into or out of the very things that will lead to our success.
So let’s all welcome in the year of the water Snake and let focus and discipline be our guides.
