Questions are powerful tools to a life coach. They help clients find clarity, create plans and make choices. Asking yourself questions is a good thing. But some questions are better than others.
Here’s the question that changes everything in your life:
Do you live in a friendly or a hostile universe?
Albert Einstein said the answer to that question is the most important decision you will make in your life. That one answer sets up the framework for your world view. It determines whether you feel helpless or empowered, are a pessimist or an optimist, a glass half empty or half full kind of person. The answer to this one simple question colours everything you experience.
Is the world conspiring against you or co-creating with you?
In a hostile universe, things never work out as well for you as they do for other people. Life seems to favour some people over others who live charmed lives or are naturally lucky. I don’t think the universe plays favourites. I think you find the opportunities you go looking for.
When you believe that the world conspires against you, it’s easy to give up personal responsibility or blame other people or circumstances. Life lives you rather than you living life.
In a friendly universe everything doesn’t always go your way, but setbacks are viewed as learning opportunities or course corrections. You have to have a little faith. You have to be patient. You have to be okay with not knowing everything.
Believing you live in a friendly universe also means that you have to be conscious and intentional in your choices. You have to be proactive. Just because the universe is friendly doesn’t mean that you can sit on your butt and wait for whatever you want.
In a co-creating universe, you get to use all of your natural creativity to design what you want out of life. You are worthy of everything that life has to offer.
Catch yourself talking about life.
What kind of universe do you live in?
So much truth here Laurel! At one point, my universe seemed filled with negativitiy and giving away self-power by being the victim seemed to be my path. I made some very hard decision in my life, have moved forward with the belief that my universe is filled with positive energy and momentum and it has made a significant diffierence in my own mindset as well as my results.
Change your mind and you can change your viewpoint and your results.
Thanks Mary Jo – well said!
